The Victoria Square proposals deliver circa 11,000 sqm of new retail floorspace in Woking town centre, circa 400 residential apartments in two towers, a 190 bed hotel with conference facilities, spa and gym, space for a medical centre, additional car parking spaces and two new public plazas.
The redevelopment also provides the opportunity to change the way people and vehicles move around this part of the town centre through the realignment of Cawsey Way and the change of the High Street to one way only.
A new fire station was also proposed on Goldsworth Road, with residential units above, which was delivered in 2016 prior to the decommissioning of the existing facility within the Victoria Square development site.
Consent was granted in 2014 and the scheme is expected to be open in 2020.
Vectos was retained by Bandstand Square Developments Ltd to provide transport input to the Victoria Square scheme, taking it through planning and the detailed design stage.
Our role has included the design of the transport infrastructure to support the development, including a revised highway layout, new bus infrastructure and taxi facilities as well as improved facilities for pedestrians and cyclists.
We have assessed the transport effects of the scheme and proposed changes to the transport networks.
We have also worked closely with Surrey County Council and Woking Borough Council to reach agreement on the technical analysis and Transport Strategy for the scheme.
