Royal Albert Dock
Vectos was appointed by ABP in late 2013 to provide transport consultancy advice in relation to the proposed development of 14 hectares of vacant land adjacent to Royal Albert Dock, to provide in the region of 325,000 sqm of commercial development with associated retail and residential elements.
The development, opposite London City Airport, is one of the largest development projects in the UK and is billed as the capital’s next business district, forging new trade links with China and other economies in the Asia-Pacific region and securing billions of pounds of inward investment in the UK economy.
Vectos provided advice to the project team throughout the development of the scheme Masterplan. Advice was provided in relation to access from the public highway, site layout, car and cycle parking, accessibility, permeability, access to Docklands Light Rail services and deliveries and servicing.
Subsequently, Vectos prepared a Transport Assessment, Framework Travel Plan, and Delivery and Servicing Plan which provided a detailed assessment of trip generation for the proposed development and its subsequent impact on the public transport and highway networks. Vectos has also been involved in extensive negotiations and discussions with Transport for London regarding improvements required to the DLR network in the vicinity of the proposed development, to ensure that it can cater for the future demand generated by the proposed development.
The application was granted planning consent by the London Borough of Newham in July 2014.
