Sainsbury’s Nine Elms

Project Overview 

In September 2012, the London Borough of Lambeth granted consent for Sainsbury’s and Barratt Homes to redevelop the existing Nine Elms food store site on the South Bank of the River Thames. The scheme forms part of the extensive development coming forward in the Vauxhall, Nine Elms and Battersea Opportunity Area.

Our Approach

Vectos acted as transport consultant to Sainsbury’s for Nine Elms managing the post-submission process including resolution of all transport issues with London Borough of Lambeth and Transport for London (TfL).

Our role involved input regarding options for the location of Nine Elms tube station and negotiation with neighbouring landowners in consideration of the construction access and phasing within the wider Nine Elms development area.

A package of Section 278 public realm improvements were agreed with stakeholders, including a new pedestrian street giving access to the New Covent Garden Market site and off-site pedestrian and cycle improvements.
