Old Coal Depot

Project Overview

As part of the Examination in Public (EiP) of the West London Waste Plan, a proposed change to the Plan had been put forward by a developer to provide a materials recovery and recycling facility and Civic Amenity Site at the Old Coal Depot, Tavistock Road, Yiewsley in London.

This proposal had been the subject of a planning application which was refused by the Borough in 2013. TfL also had concerns with the appropriateness of the site in transport terms.

Our Approach

Vectos staff were brought into the project to identify the transport issues, provide technical support to the Borough and provide transport evidence at the Public Inquiry.

We undertook site visits to enable an area wide audit to be carried out. This audit identified areas of potential conflict to other road users and to the local area, as well as potential HGV routings. A safety audit was also carried out to identify the likely safety issues if the waste site was approved. We also worked with Hillingdon to produce the transport evidence in support of their case against the proposed change to the West London Waste Plan.
