London Southend Airport Business Park
Vectos has been providing transport advice to Henry Boot Developments Limited on a 900,000 sqft business park adjacent to London Southend Airport. The site is within the London Southend Airport & Environs Joint Area Action Plan (JAAP); a collaboration between Rochford District Council and Southend on Sea Borough Council (SBC). Vectos assisted Henry Boot in the initial bid to become joint venture partners with SBC and then provided advice through the planning process.
The site currently accommodates a rugby club and pitches. Our work also involved support for an application to relocate the rugby club to an adjoining site. As well as employment uses on the site, the scheme will include an Innovation Centre, hotel and ancillary café, retail and community uses.
Vectos was involved in numerous meetings with Southend Borough Council, Essex County Council and their consultants. The work involved the preparation of a Transport Assessment and Framework Travel Plan to support both the rugby club and business park applications. The key transport issues were traffic impact, non-car access to the site and car parking provision.
An application was submitted in October 2015 and the rugby club and business park applications were approved at Committees in February and March 2016, respectively. Vectos is currently assisting the client with negotiating the S106 Agreement with the local authorities.
